Pilot Projects

Program Overview

1. Support the conduct of scientifically meritorious, new and innovative pilot projects through a competitive cross-SCTR grant program with open solicitation, peer review and funding in grant categories such as Discovery, Early Career Investigator, Novel Methodology and Technology

2. Facilitate collaboration across traditional disciplinary and institutional lines by sponsoring thematic-based retreats for basic, clinical and population scientists, and community practitioners at all levels of career development.

3. Provide high quality consultation services for study conceptualization, project design and proposal improvement (STAR Consultation).

4. Facilitate the establishment of new cores that emanate from a critical mass of successful novel methodology and translational technology pilot projects.
